Gibson Certified Vintage 1953 Gibson ES-295, Gold

1953 Gibson ES-295, Serial Number A 13899

This Gibson Certified Vintage 1953 ES-295 represents one of the most distinctive archtop models Gibson produced in the 1950s. Introduced in 1952 as a more ornate counterpart to the ES-175, the ES-295 featured a gold finish, floral pickguard, and a pair of P-90 pickups and offered players like Scotty Moore the flash and tone that would become iconic in early rock ’n’ roll.

This example is a wildly cool hollowbody with all the worn-in charm of a well-loved instrument. The original gold finish has been worn off the back of the neck from the base of the headstock to the heel and was oversprayed long ago, as the remaining overspray blacklights. Other wear includes mild spidery checking and finish loss around the feet of the tailpiece.

A strap button was added at the heel, and the guitar has been freshly re-fretted and fitted with a new bone nut by Gibson Repair & Restoration. The guitar retains its original Patent Pending Les Paul Model wraparound trapeze tailpiece and ES-295 floral pickguard, both adding to its vintage appeal.

This ES-295 comes with an original brown and pink Lifton® case.
