Gibson Flying V 80s, Silverburst, Exclusive

The legendary 80s Flying V returns

The Gibson Flying V™ is considered an iconic design by modern guitarists and is one of the most readily identifiable and unique guitar designs of all time. It was first introduced in 1958, and while it was less than enthusiastically received initially, in the following decades, it became increasingly popular, especially with hard rock and metal guitarists. For many of them, the 1980s were when the model really hit its stride. The Gibson Flying V 80s is based on the highly sought-after 1984 models. It features the iconic V-shaped body, which is crafted from mahogany, and a fast-playing SlimTaper™ mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard that is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and adorned with acrylic dot inlays. The headstock features the instantly identifiable arrowhead shape that is one of the visual hallmarks of the Flying V, and is equipped with a set of Grover® Rotomatic® tuning machines with contemporary buttons and a Graph Tech® nut, ensuring rock-solid tuning stability.

The body is outfitted with new 80s Tribute humbucking pickups that accurately capture the unique, fat-toned sound and rich sustain of the models from the 80s era. They are hand-wired to individual volume controls so you can blend the pickups together in any amount that suits you, and a master tone control that utilizes a high-quality Orange Drop® capacitor. A three-way toggle pickup selector switch completes the controls. The Flying V 80s has no pickguard, giving it a sleek and somewhat menacing appearance that fans have loved since the hard-rockin’ days of the 80s. The hardware is chrome-plated, including the aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece, both of which contribute to the model’s excellent sustain. A hardshell case is also included to help keep this treasure safe when traveling to your next gig.
